Carriage of Pets into Dublin Airport, Ireland is subject to the following conditions:
· An approval must be obtained before carrying pet animals in Dublin Airport, Ireland – a pre-notification must be send to the Department of any pet travelling into Ireland by e-mailing to petmove@agriculture.gov.ie.
· A check prior to boarding that intending passengers with a pet are in possession of an EU pet passport.
· Provision by the airline of information to passengers of rules applying to pet dogs, cats and ferrets being brought into Ireland.
The pre-notification is required to allow Department staff to randomly spot check Pet Passports of pets that are entering Ireland from EU member states and EEA countries (Norway, Iceland, Switzerland, Croatia, The Vatican, Monaco, Liechtenstein, Andorra, San Marino).
The EU Pet Passport system is designed to protect citizens from the threat of rabies and certain other diseases and so we are very concerned when there is any breach in this system.
