Miami – here we come!
SAS Cargo launches direct daily service to Miami
With the new launch of a direct service between Scandinavia and Miami, SAS Cargo is set to expand its network offer in the Southeastern US and Latin America.
Starting on September 28th, SAS will operate the new Miami route with its Airbus A330-300, offering daily services between the US' Latin American gateway and Oslo and Copenhagen. Oslo will initially be operated four days per week, with the remaining three days from Copenhagen.
"The Miami route is our seventh direct service between the US and Scandinavia, and it’s the first time we have ever operated a direct flight into Southeast United States" says Leif Rasmussen, President & CEO, SAS Cargo Group A/S. "This new route will not only enable our customers in Scandinavia and the US quicker access to and from the Nordic markets and the industrially vibrant Southern US, but just as importantly, it will enable our interline partners in Latin America the ability to offer a faster direct service with SAS Cargo via Miami to Scandinavia for their flower- and perishable exporters. We offer connections from Panama, Colombia, Bolivia, Peru, Venezuela, Ecuador, Brazil, Chile and Argentina to all of Scandinavia via Miami. This through agreements with a number of airlines , among others, Copa Airlines, Solar Air Cargo, Bringer Air Cargo, Centurion Air Cargo, LAN Airlines and Aerolinas Argentinas”, continues Leif Rasmussen.
"The A330-300 is an ideal fit for the route" remarked Britta Toftum, Head of Cargo Sales North America, SAS Cargo Group A/S. “With its large cargo payload, we are able to accommodate the heavier perishables we expect from South America, and still have capacity to meet the general cargo demand from Miami and nearby catchment areas".
Air cargo general sales and service agent, Aviation Services (ATC), who will be managing the sales and commercial services on behalf of SAS Cargo Group A/S in the Miami market, has played an important role in linking SAS Cargo with the several new interline partners to help expand SAS Cargo’s reach into, and out of, Latin America. "ATC is proud of our 14 year history as SAS Cargo's GSA in the southern part of the United States. We are especially excited about the opportunities that this new route represents, not only for exporters and importers to and from the US and Scandinavia, but more importantly because of the unique opportunity of creating new services for customers into and out of Latin America" said Timothy Pfeil, ATC's US VP and Managing Director.
